Polish - Austrian Conference
About project
On June 23, 2006, in Lublin, a Polish-Austrian Conference took place.
Prof. Zbigniew Zaleski , a Member of the European Parliament, was its
initiator and main organizer. Mr. Edward Wojtas, Speaker of Lublin
Voivodeship, was a co-organizer of the conference.
The conference was divided into three thematic sections. The first
section aimed at summarizing Austrian presidency in the Council of the
European Union. In the second block, a discussion of Polish-Austrian
bilateral relations was held. The last section was dedicated to
regional cooperation based on the example of partnership between Lublin
Voivodeship and Province of Styria. Thanks to the excellent specialists
in Polish-Austrian issues and Austrian guests, the debate was conducted
in an outstanding atmosphere, which for sure will lead to future common
projects.
Targets
- Familiarizing citizens of Lublin Region with working of the Council and its decisions that concern citizens and affect their everyday lives.

Debating about the future of the European Union in context of the Constitutional Treaty.
- Summarising functioning of the Council in relations to the most important issues, as seen by the citizens of Lublin Voivodeship.
- Analyzing current bilateral political relations.
- Analyzing Polish-Austrian trade exchange, level of foreign investments and its attractive future options.
- Discussing actions taken so far in the framework of cooperation.
- Intensifying and increasing regional cooperation.
- Facilitating networking opportunities.
